FREIBURG- Freiburg blew the lead twice, including a two-goal lead with less than 15 minutes remaining, as they were tied for their visit to Eintracht Frankfurt midweek but were lucky enough to come out with one point.
- Vincenzo Grifo opened the scoring for Freiburg before the hosts equalized, but two goals in three minutes from Nils Petersen and Lucas Holer seemed to have sealed the victory for the visitors until Frankfurt equaled their feat to level.
- Freiburg was the second best in the world and would have been at the end of a major defeat if the hosts had risked and in their attempt to improve their losing streak in form, they hope to get more minutes from striker Luca Waldschmidt after he lasted 59 minutes in his surprising return in the middle of the week.
BAYER LEVERKUSEN
- Bayer Leverkusen's brilliant form was abruptly ended as they staged a shocking performance to fall to a 1-4 loss at home against Wolfsburg midweek, which was their first loss in eight Bundesliga games.
- Leverkusen fell behind just before the break and then conceded three goals in an 11-minute spell in the second half in an unusual display, especially since the league returned to action.
- Julian Baumgartlinger noted a late consolation, but that did nothing to hide the disappointment from the hosts and changes are likely to occur due to a combination of poor performance and short response time with Kevin Volland pressing for a return from injury.
PREDICTION
Freiburg have won just one of their last seven matches in the Bundesliga and will face a difficult test to improve that record as they host a Bayer Leverkusen team with a great point to prove. Visitors were at the end of a major home loss to Wolfsburg in the middle of the week and as a result are likely to make several changes alongside them. After losing for the first time in eight Bundesliga games, Leverkusen will have a point to prove and Freiburg is unlikely to match them.
